Exciting news for feline fanciers! Artist Braldt Bralds has developed an entirely new breed of cat (felinus gottalooktwiceus) distinguished by its thunderous purr, obedient nature (not!) and multicolor whiskers. Actually, the real inspiration behind Rainbow Whiskers, Braldt tells us, came one day after his cats visited his studio. Wishing they were artists themselves, they jumped up on a table, dabbed their paws into his painter's palette and created a masterful mess. After the clean-up, Braldt resolved to add a little more color to his cats' lives-and ours!

Braldt Bralds 'A Chorus Line'
Together now! Left foot first. Look in the same direction…" is what this chorus line's choreographer must be thinking as he watches this performance. Look closely-furry faces are all facing forward and tails are gracefully curved upwards but…those 28 legs are anything but "in sync." Braldt Bralds, our very own "Dutch Master," pokes fun in a tongue in cheek way about the independent nature of cats. "They seem to go through life with an attitude of 'nobody can teach me anything unless I want them to.' And in this painting that seems to be their motto along with, 'Okay, we'll do it! But we'll do it our way!'" Bold and graphic, yet painstakingly finite in detail, this work-like all of Bralds' others-defies classification. This image continues John's informal series of prints (most sold out at the publisher) that celebrate the special bond between dogs and people. John's models for these portraits have been his own dogs in the familiar company of friends and neighbors. The model for Cold Nose, Warm Heart is Maggie, the artist's golden Lab, whom you may remember from the popular release New Friends.
